Tr4ilrunners Picayune
A little before 7am, I pulled up to La Carreta ventanita to order a colada and una tostada to go… Tra4ilrunners was hosting a ride to Picayune Strands state forest, a wet and muddy place on the southern west side of Florida.
A bit before 7am, we pulled up to La Carreta’s ventanita. The warm scent of freshly brewed cafesito wafting through the air, and the promise of a crispy tostada began fueling my excitement for the day ahead. The plan… A trail ride to Picayune Strand State Forest—an untamed, muddy stretch of wilderness on Florida’s southern west coast. I could feel the energy brewing with each sip of the sweet rich colada; the caffeine giving me a twinkle in the eye. Fernando joined Jasmine and I just as the sun began to rise, and together we headed north to Weston, eager to meet up with the rest of the crew.
A quick hello and suddenly 10 eager adventurers are ready to hit the road. The surprises didn’t stop there as we made our way across the state. That’s right. We met up with another local group, also 10 deep, giving us a total of 20 rigs heading into the park.
It was official: This was no ordinary ride.
The energy was palpable as we rolled through Florida’s backroads, anticipation building for the muddy challenges that lay ahead. This was going to be an unforgettable adventure.
